Toyota’s EV 2026 C-HR: Second U.S. Model Signals Stronger Commitment

Toyota’s EV 2026 C-HR

Electrification has already been under way for quite some time. Although some car companies have appeared as electric vehicle (EV) producers from the very start. There are also well-known vehicle manufacturers negotiating between internal combustion engines (ICE) and electric cars (EVs). Although many car companies have promised to get rid of ICEs after a certain timetable, most have backed away from this promise because demand for EVs is not enough to guarantee the sustainability of their companies.

Companies like Toyota and Lexus are completely embracing hybrids, therefore relegating pure battery electric cars (BEVs) to a peripheral concern. Nevertheless, as both of these Japanese automotive heavyweights have debuted their second electric vehicles following the bZ4X (now known simply as bZ) and the RZ, respectively, preparations for BEVs seem back in process. While Toyota has resurrected a famous moniker, Lexus has said that the 2026 ES will also be offered as an EV.

Toyota 2026 C HR

The second addition to Toyota’s electric vehicle lineup is the 2026 C-HR. Given that the bZ already acts as Toyota’s only electric SUV, it is rather shocking that Toyota did not release an electric sedan. Instead, the firm decided to design and grow a different model. Toyota started selling the C-HR in the United States in 2018 and stopped selling it in 2022; it is not a totally new vehicle. It was available as an ICE model in the United States; worldwide, it was given as both hybrid and ICE versions. Still, in its resurrected version, it will only be available as an electric SUV.

The biggest electric SUV on the market is not likely to be the 2026 Toyota C-HR. Actually, it is lower than the bZ. Toyota intends to release the 2026 C-HR in two trims: the SE and XSE. The SE will be the base trim, with basic features and the lowest manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP). However, the pricing information has not yet been revealed. Concerning the exterior, the C-HR SE will have low-profile roof rails, a power liftgate, and 18-inch wheels with black alloy inserts.
