Ford Partners Up with Amazon for Certified Used Car Sales

Ford Motor Company has not only made a significant transformation in the way it associates with customers who are purchasing a used vehicle, but has also introduced a novel program where, in conjunction with Amazon, customers are able to search for, fund, and even buy certified pre-owned Ford vehicles effortlessly.

Ford partners with Amazon to sell used cars

Basically, under the newly formed partnership, Amazon is performing the role of the online retailer, whereas the Ford dealerships in the vicinity are taking care of the inspection, storage, and last-handover of the vehicle.

The first three U.S. markets are Los Angeles, Seattle, and Dallas, from where the program will be carried out. Approximately 20 Ford dealerships that are already on the platform will be involved, and another 160-180 are interested in becoming a part of it.

Through Amazon Autos, the customer has the power to see the inventory of the area that is not more than 75 miles away, start the financing process, and do all but the last part of the paperwork online.

However, the customer might still need to sign the last documents personally, and also, in some cases, the customer may need to get the car from the dealership.

Each vehicle sold on Amazon is approved and classified under Ford’s Blue Advantage program, which provides multi-point inspections and tiered warranties.

The level of coverage that buyers get depends on the certification assigned to the car: Gold, Blue, or EV. For example, cars having EV certification come along with a 127-point inspection, a 12-month/12,000-mile limited warranty, and roadside assistance.

As a part of Ford’s new initiative, the company is offering a 14-day or 1,000-mile money-back guarantee, whichever comes first, to secure the buyer’s trust in Ford.

Ford plans to persuade those customers who want a more convenient and digital shopping experience to choose the combination of Amazon’s e-commerce reach and its own certified second-hand automobile program, without giving up its network of dealerships.
