Strong Start to Q3: Argentina Sees Massive 44% Jump in New Car Sales

argentina sees massive 44 jump in new car sales

Sales of brand-new cars went sky-high by a whopping 44% year-over-year in July, the strongest since 2018. According to the Argentine Automobile Dealers Association (Acara), the reasons for this incredible rise are economic stability, increasing availability of models, promotional packages, and attractive financing options.

The motorcycle sector has also grown significantly. The new car sales rose by 33.9% in year-on-year terms, equivalent to 54,060 units. Toyota came out on top as the leading brand, with the Yaris model being its most preferred one by new car buyers. The automotive industry has achieved the highest monthly performance in 6 years with the registration of 62,123 new units, which accounts for 18,974 units more than those in the same month last year.

This amount also shows a 17.8% increase from June’s 52,212 units, taking the accumulated total to 388,680 new car sales for 2025, which is up 71.5% compared to the first seven months of 2024. Acara President Sebastian Beato stated that they have started the second half of the year with strong momentum.

Beato stressed that ‘demand forms and positive trends emerge in the activity whenever the value chain works harmoniously in a conducive macroeconomic environment.’ But the difficulty lies in sustaining that momentum by the close of the year and leading into 2026.

As the sales ranks go, Toyota topped with 10,033 new car sales, followed by Volkswagen (8,872), Fiat (8,286), Renault (6,176), and Chevrolet (5,253). Between the various models, the Toyota Yaris overtook the Fiat Cronos, with 3,641 units sold vis-à-vis 3,113. The Toyota Hilux pickup ranked third in selling 2,529 units. The motorcycle segment has also benefited from a positive trend. July closed with 54,060 new car sales being registered, thus witnessing a 33.9% growth compared to the same month of 2024. This represents a 12.5% growth compared to June. The motorcycles’ annual total now stands at 360,163 units, marking an increase of 47.5% year-on-year.
