Acura RSX Prototype EV’s Striking Design Revealed

Although Acura is reintroducing a famous moniker, it does so with a wholly different personality. Formerly a beloved sports coupe in the early 2000s, the RSX is returning as an all-electric crossover SUV. Though this seems to be a major departure from Acura’s first conception, the revised RSX aims to combine the brand’s performance history with the developments in electric mobility.

Unlike the original RSX, a compact, high-revving, front-wheel-drive coupe based on Honda Civic underpinnings, the new RSX prototype is an elegant, future-oriented SUV built completely on Acura’s proprietary electric vehicle platform. This marks a major shift for the brand. The RSX will be the first Acura electric vehicle designed fully by Honda and Acura engineers; unlike the previous ZDX EV, which used GM’s Ultium battery design.

This accomplishment marks a major turning point in the company’s long-term electrification plan. From a design standpoint, the RSX has many elements from the Acura Performance Electric Vision Concept revealed in 2024. Its sporty fastback shape features a flowing roofline, thin LED accents, large air intakes, and crisp body lines, giving it a dynamic but refined look. While it technically falls under the SUV, Acura’s coupe-like design shows it intends to retain some of the original spirit of the RSX.

Performance is supposed to be a main priority. Although official specifications are kept secret, industry sources project the RSX to offer both single- and dual-motor options with power outputs ranging from effective everyday commuting to a high-performance Type S model. While the upper range is predicted to be about 300 miles per charge, the dual-motor model may attain a 0–60 mph acceleration time close to 4 seconds.

Inside, Acura’s creative ASIMO operating system, a next-generation infotainment and connectivity platform, will be presented with the RSX. It promises over-the-air updates, improved navigation, and a smooth digital experience powered by artificial intelligence and machine learning.Read more on this latest release: Dodge Gives Drivers Unprecedented Freedom with the Durango Hellcat Jailbreak
