With the upcoming 2026 BMW M2 Turbo Design Edition, a special-series coupe that honors a legendary chapter in its performance legacy, BMW is set to pay homage to the famous 2002 Turbo. Combining modern engineering with a dash of nostalgia, the new model provides track-inspired character in addition to aesthetic appeal.

The M2 Turbo Design Edition, fundamentally, maintains the same mechanical basis as the normal M2: a 473-horsepower 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six. 2026 BMW M2 Turbo has limited the edition to only a six-speed manual transmission, which is clearly a gesture to driving purists. Performance-wise, it should match the standards set by the M2 60 mph in the sub-4 second range, and clients could choose the M Driver’s Package, which improves top speed between 155 mph and 177 mph. It is also inspired by BMW iX3 which Delivers 6th-Gen Powertrain, 800-Volt Architecture

The design cues inspired by the original 2002 Turbo distinguish this version. The exterior has a sharp Alpine White finish accented with hand-painted tri-color BMW M Motorsport stripes sweeping over the hood, roof, and trunk. On the hood’s power dome, a striking bright graphic-turbo spelt backwards, is imprinted, a clever reinterpretation of the mirrored script employed on the 70s model enables the term to look accurate inside mirrors.
Inside, the cabin follows the distinctive style of the outside. Illuminated “M2 Turbo” sills highlight standard Vernasca leather seats; BMW provides optional M Carbon bucket seats for those looking for more weight reduction or exclusivity. Where old Turbo symbols often show up, carbon-fiber accents adorn the dashboard, consoles, and door panels. BMW describes the 2026 BMW M2 Turbo Design Edition as ‘very restricted,’ even if the number of units to be made is unknown.
Pricing will start at approximately USD 84,075, a premium over the baseline of 2026 BMW M2 Turbo but one that may be justified by the rare condition and original design of this memorial model. Deliveries should start in the second quarter of 2026. The 2026 M2 Turbo Design Edition will almost certainly be a talking point long after it leaves dealerships.
